Afgelopen vrijdag sprak ik met collega-adviseur Henk Schoep over de ontwikkelingen in de zorgsector in Noord Nederland. De zorg moet dichter naar de mensen toe, maar organisaties worden nog steeds groter. Gemeenten krijgen door de decentralisaties een grotere rol bij de organisatie van de zorg, wijkgerichte initiatieven komen in beeld, mantelzorgers en vrijwilligers krijgen een grotere rol. En toch zien we nog steeds schaalvergroting en fusies. Zijn dat geen tegengestelde bewegingen?

Hoe houdt een organisatie met duizenden medewerkers echt contact met waar het echt om gaat: de cliënt of patiënt? Wat is de waarde van een waaier aan organisaties onder een holding of groep? Wie is er eigenlijk ‘eigenaar’ van dit soort organisaties? Moeten we niet juist toe naar kleinere organisaties? De-fuseren?

Onze opleiding aan de VU (PDO MC) leverde een interessant inzicht: de parenting theory van Goold, Campbell en Alexander. Centraal vraagstuk: welke ‘waarde’ levert een moeder voor haar dochters? Wat heb ik als zorgorganisatie een zorggroep waar ik onderdeel van uit maak? Niets zo praktisch als een goede theorie. We gaan het de komende tijd verkennen door gesprekken te voeren met een aantal bestuurders en managers. Wordt vervolgd!
