Het was voor mij een nieuw woord: ontstaanbaarheid. Als een soort tegenhanger van maakbaarheid. Tijdens de conferentie over de resultaten van het Seker & Sun project (samen voor de beste zorg in 2030 in Friesland) werd het door Klaus Boonstra aangehaald, als uitgangspunt voor de toekomstige organisatie van de zorg. Daarbij creëren we de voorwaarden waarbinnen burgers zelf veel meer verantwoordelijkheid en regie kunnen nemen voor hun eigen gezondheid. En dat ‘de zorg’ daarbij aansluit, met veel aandacht voor preventie. Binnen deze voorwaarden ontstaat dan als vanzelf de nieuwe werkelijkheid. Zeer interessante denkrichting!

Ik moest daarbij ook denken aan fragiel vs antifragiel, van Taleb. Ontstaanbaarheid is ook een nieuw woord voor een situatie die beter aansluit bij de veranderingen van deze tijd. Minder fragiel en niet zozeer robuust, in de woorden van Taleb, maar vooral zeer goed toegerust op de toekomst. En daarmee ontstaat dus eigenlijk een soort antifragiele situatie.

Klaus noemde nog zo’n boeiend woord: de autokrene burger. Auto betekent zelf, kreen betekent kraan of bron. ,,Een burger die de bron in zichzelf vindt. Maar de bron kan ook wel eens leeg zijn of stroef lopen. Dan moet er sprake zijn van wederkerigheid”, aldus Klaus. Autokreen en ontstaanbaarheid, ik zie wel een match…

Het lijkt me een mooie ontwikkeling: werken aan een ontstaanbare samenleving en ontstaanbare organisaties, voor autokrene burgers en medewerkers. Het vraagt loslaten van de illusie dat alles maakbaar is en accepteren dat we beperkte invloed hebben en risico’s nooit geheel zijn uit te sluiten. Van ‘in control’ naar ‘in charge’. In dat opzicht past werken aan ontstaanbare organisaties uitstekend bij het denken vanuit de complexiteitstheorie en werken aan ‘wicked problems’, waar ik onlangs een blog over schreef. De organisatie van de toekomst als ontstaanbare organisatie!
